$11M Lottery Winner Dreamt He Struck It Rich

This lottery win truly was a dream come true. Manitoba resident Kimm Blaquiere had a stockpile of about 40 lotto tickets when he had a dream he struck it rich.

Victoria Beach resident Kimm Blaquiere had a stockpile of about 40 lotto tickets when he had a dream he struck it rich.

“One night I had a dream I won the lottery and all my exes were trying to get back with me,” said the 54-year-old self-employed fishing guide. “And I don’t like dreaming about my exes, so I figured I better go check this ticket out.”

Blaquiere won $11,023,074.20 on his Oct. 13 Lotto 6/49 ticket.

How did he do it?

“I went through them all and I started winning fives and 10s, and I never win nothing,” he said. Manitoba’s newest instant multi-millionaire said he normally checks his tickets every few months. He stepped forward to claim his prize late last week.

Blaquiere kept his win quiet and only told his 18-year-old son Nathan while they were on the way to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation news conference Tuesday afternoon at the Delta Hotel. He said he plans to keep up his love for traveling and will spend more time fishing. He’s already ordered himself a luxury SUV.

“It’s not going to change me, that’s for sure,” he said. “I’ll just take it easy.” He’ll continue working, but said he planned to retire at this time next year anyway. “I might up my prices,” Blaquiere said. “If they don’t want to pay it, that’ll be fine with me.”
